My battery has died. It started with the battery getting really hot a month ago. Then one day I opened the Laptop and heard a pop from the back. Now it will not charge at all. It's broken. My warranty ran out a month ago, almost to the day. I can get a new battery, but my trust in HP is gone. I also have had an old vista for many years that still runs, mainly due to my efforts in cleaning and upgrading it. I'm not happy about this. I'm extremely disappointed that hp would manufacture shotty batteries for their laptops.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Forums,
I understand the battery wore out soon after the warranty ran out, it's a bitter co-incidence nothing more, nevertheless I've brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP.
They will contact you shortly and likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number.
Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact.
Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (such as serial numbers and case details).
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts to help you out, mark my post as Accepted Solution.

This can be called planned obsolescence. Defined as a policy of producing consumer goods that rapidly become obsolete and so require replacing, achieved by frequent changes in design, termination of the supply of spare parts, and the use of nondurable materials. This is not good for a company's bottom line in the end. Consumers will get so they don't trust the company and go with another company instead. I hear Apple has great Laptops btw.
