Hello I recently bought a used HP pavilion eg-0005nv that has a BSOD problem . I haven't found the problem so far as it is somewhat complicated ( the laptop works perfectly fine when it is plugged on AC power , either charging or fully charged , but when on battery power it is experiencing BSOD with random descriptions ( mostly CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT) ) .
As I was testing I found out that the battery Cycle Count isn't changing ( increasing) even though I have done full discharging down to 1% and then charging to 100% . This done both on only bios level ( no windows booting) and checking through HP PC Diagnostics UEFI , and also while booted on Windows .
Installation is HP original with firmware F.30 and all drivers updated through HP's utility ( and windows updated some on its own without asking !!!!!) .
Other than the cycle count the battery seems to work fine .
I am just wondering if the BSOD I am experiencing mostly (CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT) is related to the battery Cycle count not increasing . There will ALWAYS be a BSOD at 91-96% battery when discharging ( unplugged ) .

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ...
Your error pattern points to an error in the BMS (battery management system) inside the battery. Another indication is that the battery charge cycles are not stored (by the BMS) !
Recommendation and solution
(1) To prevent further damage, I would replace the battery with a new one.
See: Maintenance and Service Guide
(2) Reinstall your system using HP Cloud Recovery

Thank you .
All I needed was verification from someone other .
I have already used HP cloud , as I had to use a total stock system to really diagnose the problem ( and windows still updated some drivers and components the moment I connected my network , even though I had it set to not update drivers AND set to delay Windows Updates for 7 dates !!) .
At some point after the updates there must have been a driver issue along with the battery issue which made diagnosing impossible .
Anyway thanks again .
Also HW03XL are difficult to source on free market , and the older HT03XL doesn't seem so compatible ( the fitting holes at least )
