HP spectre 16-f1xxx
Microsoft Windows 11

I got an HP Spectre 16-f1xxx, and it does not live up to the spec that was a huge contributor to me making this purchase.
Even on power saving, I only have a max of 3 hours of usage which is a big bummer for me.

I have attempted the common fix of uninstalling the ACPI battery module, but it did not provide a fix.
Are there any calibrating methods other than this? I have  tried clicking on some links through similar reports but all are broken,
Any advice will be highly appreciated before I make a return.

Hi @SilkyKenyan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing battery life issues with your HP Spectre 16t laptop. Battery life can be affected by various factors, and it can be frustrating when a device doesn't meet your expectations in this regard. Here are some troubleshooting steps and tips that you can try to potentially improve your laptop's battery life.

Check Background Apps: Make sure there aren't unnecessary applications running in the background that are consuming CPU and battery resources. You can use the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) on Windows to identify and close resource-intensive applications.

Brightness Settings: Lower the screen brightness to a level that's comfortable for your usage. A brighter screen consumes more power.

Power Settings: Go into your laptop's power settings and make sure you're using a power plan that is optimized for battery life. You can access these settings by right-clicking on the battery icon in the taskbar and selecting "Power & sleep settings" or "Power options."

Update Drivers: Ensure that all your device drivers are up to date, including graphics, chipset, and especially the battery driver.

Check for Software Updates: Make sure your operating system and software are up to date. Sometimes, updates include optimizations that can improve battery life.

Disable Unnecessary Hardware: Turn off Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or any other hardware features you're not actively using.

Background Processes: Be aware of background processes and services that might be running. Some of these may be related to the operating system or installed software. You can check these in the Task Manager.

Battery Calibration: Even though you've mentioned you've tried some methods, you can try calibrating your battery again. Here's how to do it:

  • Charge your laptop to 100%.
  • Use it until it completely discharges and powers off.
  • Leave it off for a few hours.
  • Plug it in and charge it back to 100%.

Battery Health Check: Many laptops have built-in diagnostics for battery health. Check if your HP Spectre has a battery health tool in the BIOS or through HP's diagnostic software.

Keep in mind that 3 hours of battery life on power-saving mode does seem quite low for a modern laptop. If the issue persists after trying these steps, it's possible that there may be a defective battery or some other hardware issue,

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
