Hi @ManikandanMKM,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Pavilion laptop's battery is draining quickly, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially resolve the problem.
Check for Software or Background Processes: Sometimes, certain software or background processes can cause excessive battery drain. Check the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to see if any applications or processes are using a significant amount of CPU or memory. Close any unnecessary programs and processes.
Adjust Power Settings:
- Go to the Windows Control Panel and access the "Power Options." You can select a power plan that is more battery-friendly, such as "Power Saver" or create a custom power plan with more conservative settings.
- Ensure that your laptop is set to "Balanced" or "Power Saver" mode when running on battery power.
Reduce Screen Brightness: High screen brightness consumes a lot of battery power. Lower the screen brightness or enable adaptive brightness if your laptop supports it.
Disconnect Peripherals: Disconnect any USB devices or peripherals that you're not using. Some devices draw power from your laptop's USB ports.
Update Drivers and Software: Outdated drivers or software can sometimes lead to power management issues. Make sure your operating system and drivers are up to date.
Disable Startup Programs: Disable unnecessary programs from starting up when your computer boots. You can do this through the Task Manager's Startup tab.
Check for Malware: Malware can affect your computer's performance and battery life. Use a reputable anti-malware program to scan and remove any potential threats.
Calibrate the Battery: Sometimes, calibrating the battery can help improve its performance. To do this, let the battery drain completely, then fully charge it without interruptions.
Check Battery Health: Use the built-in Windows Battery Report or a third-party application to check your laptop's battery health. If the battery is degraded, you may need to replace it.
Close Unused Browser Tabs and Applications: Having too many browser tabs and applications open can strain your system resources and cause the battery to drain quickly. Close unused tabs and apps.
Use Hibernate or Sleep Mode: When you're not actively using your laptop, put it in sleep or hibernate mode instead of leaving it on. These modes use less power than a full shutdown and can quickly resume your work.
Reduce Background Services: Disable or adjust background services that are running unnecessarily. This can be done through the Services menu in Windows.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
