Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-r1000 (8Z7S2AV)

Dear HP Support Team,

I hope you're doing well.

I am reaching out to seek your assistance regarding a battery issue in my HP Victus (Model: 16-r1xxx) laptop, which is still under warranty (about 3 months and 10 days remaining).

I recently noticed that the battery is significantly degraded. According to the system's battery report, the full charge capacity has dropped to 54,540 mWh, while the original design capacity was 70,070 mWh — showing a health decline of more than 20%.

I would like to ask if this qualifies for a battery replacement under warranty, and what steps I need to follow to proceed with the claim.

Please let me know how I can move forward with this process.

Thank you for your support.

Hi @hassanmajeed,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out regarding your HP Victus 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-r1000 (8Z7S2AV) battery concern. Based on the official battery warranty policy, here’s how to proceed:

Battery Warranty Coverage:

  • Non-user-replaceable batteries (like in most gaming laptops) are covered under the same warranty period as the laptop.
  • decline in battery capacity over time is normal and not automatically covered unless:
    • The battery fails HP Diagnostics, or
    • The degradation is due to a defect in materials or workmanship.

Step 1: Run HP Battery Diagnostics

You must run HP’s official tool to verify battery health:

  • Download and run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics for Windows🔗 HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support
  • Alternatively, run the UEFI version:
    1. Turn off your laptop.
    2. Turn it on and immediately press Esc, then F2.
    3. Select Component Tests > Battery Test.

Save the test results (especially if it shows a failure), let us know.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
