I continue to get the popup below on occasion (not every day). I choose "Let HP Manage my battery charging" then reboot as advised, but the message continues to appear.

Please, advise.

Hi @MSStateDawg,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you keep seeing the HP Battery Health Manager pop-up even after selecting “Let HP manage my battery charging” and rebooting. The HP guidance in the provided documents suggests these checks:

Verify the setting in BIOS

  • Turn off the notebook.

  • Plug it into power.

  • Turn it on and repeatedly press F10 to open BIOS Setup Utility.

  • Go to Advanced > Power Management Options > Battery Health Manager.

  • Confirm that " Let HP manage my battery charging is selected.

  • Save Changes and Exit.

This is the setting HP says is required in some battery calibration and battery management scenarios.

Update the BIOS

  • HP states that if Battery Health Manager is not behaving as expected or not showing correctly, you should update the BIOS to the most current version from Official HP® Support.

Why this may still happen

  • HP notes that Battery Health Manager settings can be changed by BIOS behavior and updates.

  • HP also changed the default on some business notebooks to “Let HP manage my battery charging” in later BIOS releases, which suggests BIOS version can affect battery charging behavior and prompts.

If you mainly use AC power

  • HP also provides Maximise my battery health, which limits charging to about 80% and is intended for notebooks that stay plugged in most of the time.

  • If you need the longest runtime between charges, HP lists Maximize my battery duration.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

Everything on my laptop remains FULLY updated, so that portion of the response was not of benefit.

I have gone into the BIOS manually and made the change. I'll let you know if the popup appears again.

You've not answered my question as to why the popup continues to appear after selecting “Let HP manage my battery charging”. The utility is broken and should be reported to the devs responsible for its maintenance. It's a pity that they went to so much trouble to design a utility to make the user experience more pleasant...for it to be completely dysfunctional.

Hi @MSStateDawg,

Thank you for your response.

May I know if you have updated the BIOS driver recently?

The purpose of this message is to optimise battery health by dynamically adjusting how the notebook charges based on usage and temperature.

You can change this setting; you will need to restart your computer and enter the BIOS setup utility ( often by pressing F10) to locate the power management options.

Kindly refer to the document below for the HP Battery Health Manager:

Per Windows Update, it was updated on 4/13/26.

I'm curious about the rest of your message which includes instructions on how to change the setting manually in the BIOS when my last message stated that I had already done so. Did you not read the entire reply?
