Microsoft Windows 11

The computer is brand new out of the box, so one would assume the batteries full charge capacity would be 100%? or is this achieved by using the laptop/letting it die and recharging it a few times? or am I wrong in thinking something is wrong and this 94% is put in place to protect the battery? Or my battery is poorly calibrated?

Still showing 8 cycles but now 100% of design capacity. Sometimes it takes a couple charge/discharge cycles to get the battery to register right in the diagnostics. I think you are fine.

Don't run it down to zero. Run it down to 20-25% a couple times and recharge. If it still does not register above a 94% charge post back and we will try to figure out what is going on.

It charges up to 100%, it's just the maximum charge capacity estimate which is 94%. Isn't there a battery protection system?

HP Recommended

So you are seeing 94% as the max charge capacity in the advanced details of the battery diagnostics? Please elaborate

Yes that's what I thought. It's saying your battery is designed to hold 70 watt/hours of charge and it is actually only able to hold 66. Also showing you have consumed 8 charge/discharge cycles and the battery was manufactured in March of this year. In other words 6% of the battery capacity has been used up.

Someone has charged it up and discharged it several times. I do not work for HP bro I just answer questions here....also an end user. I would take it up with the seller of your laptop. If you literally just opened the box you definitely somehow were provided with a battery with a bit of use on it.
