Hi @Lyka_26,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop's battery status is stuck and not increasing or decreasing even when plugged in, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the issue.
Check the Power Adapter:
- Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to the laptop and the power outlet.
- Try a different power outlet or another compatible charger to rule out issues with the adapter.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Unplug the power adapter.
- If the battery is removable, remove it. If not, proceed to the next step.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the battery (if removed) and plug in the charger.
- Turn on your laptop and check the battery status.
Check Battery and Adapter Status in BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing Esc, F2, F10, or Del during startup).
- In the BIOS menu, look for the battery status. It should display if the charger is connected and whether the battery is charging.
- If the battery is not detected or shows incorrect status, the issue may be hardware-related.
Update or Reinstall Battery Drivers:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select "Device Manager."
- Expand the "Batteries" section.
- Right-click on "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" and select "Uninstall device."
- After uninstalling, restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the battery driver.
- Check if the issue is resolved.
Run HP Diagnostics:
- HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostics tools. Restart your laptop and press Esc to enter the startup menu.
- Select "System Diagnostics" and run the battery test to check for any hardware issues.
Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates:
- Go to the HP Support website, enter your laptop model, and check for any available BIOS/UEFI updates.
- Install any updates that are available, as they can sometimes resolve power management issues.
Calibrate the Battery:
- Allow your laptop's battery to fully discharge until it powers off.
- Plug in the charger and let it charge to 100% without interruption.
- This process can help recalibrate the battery's charge status.

Test the Laptop Without the Battery (for removable batteries):
- If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing the battery and powering the laptop directly with the charger.
- If the laptop functions normally, the battery might be faulty and may need replacement.
Replace the Battery:
- If none of the above steps resolve the issue, the battery may be defective. Consider replacing the battery, especially if it's old or shows signs of wear.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
