HP ProBook 450 15.6 inch G9 Notebook PC (4D3X4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

HP ProbBook 450 G9 wouldn't power up on battery power. Attached a power adapter and the laptop will boot up. Bottery does not charge and the power indicator in the Windows taskbar has disappeared. As soon as you pull the power adapter, the laptop shuts down.
Plugged the laptop back in and booted the laptop. Ran the Battery Check in the HP SupportAssist and it reported back that the battery was not detected. Booted into the boot menu to run the BIOS diags. Ran the battery check there and it reported that no battery is installed.

Replaced the battery with a known good battery from another HP ProbBook 450 G9 and got the same results.
Thinking this is a motherboard issue. Maybe the connector to the battery or something maybe got shorted out?
Any thoughts or suggestions?

That is the first diagnosis that would come to mind. You might try a hard reset but removing the battery for replacement likely had the same effect so the fault must be in the charging circuitry not the battery. Do check to see if your AC adapter has a center wire and be sure it is not bent but that is a hail mary suggestion.

The HP ProbBook 450 G9 charges/powers with both the barrel and USB-C connectors. They both seem to be working as expected. The first thing I tried was using the USB-C adapter because I thought it might be an issue with the barrel type adapter. So I don't feel like it's a problem with the power adapter. I agree that it seems to be a circuitry issue at this point.

Thank you for your input and advice. I appreciate it!
