HP ENVY Notebook 15-as050na (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I think my battery is on the way out, it's o.k. at the higher charge percentages but when it gets to around 20-30% it just dies. I have had my HP ENVY Notebook 15-as050na (ENERGY STAR) for a little over 4 years with almost daily use, mainly using the a.c. adaptor.

I checked on the hp website & there is no replacement available so I started looking elsewhere. I can find a replacement on several sites, some with dubious reviews which I am not too happy about using. As the laptop is just over 4 years old I am disgusted that hp do not have a replacement available so look like having to take a chance at possibly losing £50 unless anyone can help with a reliable supplier.

Thanks in advance for any info

Hi David,

Well after a lot of looking I purchased a replacement battery from Dr Battery on Amazon. I fitted it today, charged it up & my laptop has been on battery power over 2 hours & is still above 60%. I suppose time will tell but so far so good,

Ian

Hi,

I usually replace my batteries in notebooks about every 18-24 months as I will notice the deterioration of the battery.

The part number for the battery is 849313-856

I see it is not available in the HP parts store. You could try an online search with the part number.

You could try here, they might be able to provide info about a store where to find one

https://www.eetgroup.com/en-gb/?term=849313-856

On page 29 of the service manual you can see the steps to replace the battery

Hope it helps,

David

Thank you for your reply David. I am waiting to hear from EET. Interesting to hear that you replace your battery every 18-24 months. In future I may purchase a replacement or two when I purchase a new laptop rather than have to run the risk of not getting one or chancing buying one from an unverified source. I would be able to replace the battery as I've already opened the laptop up to verify the model of the battery.

Thanks again,

Ian

You're welcome Ian.

Yes, for max performance as I will notice the difference a lot. I do have a couple where I never really replaced the battery and keep them on ac power.

Usually buy quality compatible batteries.

Take care,

David
