Pavilion dv6
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello All.

Trying to get out of the following issue I try to describe as more accurately as possible.

A year ago I bought a new ORIGINAL HP battery to replace my original one (7 years old, it didn't keep charge any longer...).

This new battery worked great for about 1 and a half years (its life was about 3/3 and a half hours, so perfect!).

Then, suddenly, his performance dropped, that is: there are times when it recharges very fast (too fast) and dies very fast (and the annoying thing is that the icon doesn't warn you the battery is about to die, so the screen turns black suddenly while you are working...) , other times (now while I am writing this message) that, once recharged, it works for almost 2 hours and the icon tells you the battery's charge is almost at maximum level.

I can't understand what the problem can be, I was also thinking of a problem of my charger...

Do you have any clues? Does it need a battery reset/reboot? In case, how?

Many thanks to anyone can give any helpful tip:Wink:...

What is the exact model of the laptop? Lots of DV6s spanning many years. If you have HP Support Assistant there is a battery test built in and it would give us a lot of information on the health of the battery down to the level of each seperate cell and that's the place to start any inquiry.

Of course, I have HP Support Assistant.

My laptop is a HP Pavilion DV6, characteristics below:

I launched the HP Support Assistant battery check but the results are opposing (?)... two days ago the result was: your battery works great, no problem... I got it rerun earlier today and it says: your battery is old, that's why some cells don't work properly, consider to replace it... Weird... The battery is 1 and half years old more or less... I need clues... Possible its efficiency dropped so sharply in such a little time???

Likely a DV6-6000 series. Sounds like a problem that a new battery would fix.
