Hello and Happy winter holidays for everyone.
I have stuck with a problem for some time now and as I got some time off I managed to do some tests before I ask for help. I have a very nice HP Envy 360 Convertible 15 ds-0004na. I use it for basic needs so it is excellent for me. for a while i have been noticing that when i shut it down and put it on a charge over the night, in the morning when i unplug it it starts to heat up really bad before I even turn it on. and it stays hot( like really hot) for a 4-5 hours. When it cools down I always find that I cant turn it on because the battery is completely discharged, so I charge it again and I can use it.
This does not happen every day. It happens like every 3rd or 4th day of the week randomly with no reasons.
On this laptop I do not have any programs at all. Only programs i have are HP and Norton antivirus that i have on every computer and laptop for my family).
I did HP hardware check on this laptop and found no fault and drivers seem to be up to date.
With all of this I feel troubled because I am not sure what should I really do. Any advice and solutions would be appreciated.

Welcome to HP support community.
Update the Bios and battery driver using HP Support Assistant.
Download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: Click here
HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook
-
Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
-
Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
-
Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
-
Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
-
Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.
You can also refer this HP document for more assistance:-Click here
I hope that helps.

Thank you for the reply. I have updated my BIOS drives up to date from the hp website because i did not get any messages in my support assistant. Seems like it have solved the problem BUT it made another problem. Sometimes I Cant turn on my laptop at all. Again, it does not occur all the time. All I do at the moment is I hold a power button to reset it but i dont think that is a good idea at all so i try just to wait and hope for luck 😉 How do i solve it from here?
Updated:
Forgot to add that i noticed that battery charge also goes from 100 to 0% over the night if I leave computer unplugged as i said above. all testes i done through software didn't show anything wrong.
Updated again:
Was using my computer again. went the kitchen for few minutes when i came back, it was hot and black screen. it didn't want to turn on at all or reset and LED bulb next to the hole for the charge was flashing. computer cooled down in about 15 min and stop flashing but i could not switch it on again. I managed to switch it on when i put on on a charge. Before i went to the kitchen i had more then 50% battery charge. I think I have Faulty battery.

Run Extensive system test to check for hardware failures.
1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.
4. Click Extensive Test.
5. Click Run once, or Loop until error. While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component are shown on the screen.
Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for the fast reply. As I have said already said on the 1st post that I already done that (post 12-31-2019 12:58 PM) with all passing marks. I did not use the Loop function until error. I will do that now.
updated:
Finished test. 12 Hour run while i was at work... here are the results:
got warning on charging port
all passed but battery OK
I have only problems with laptop when running on battery.

Refer this HP document for fixing heating issue:- Click here
The battery will deplete if the pc is on overnight, when not connected to the wall outlet by design.
Did you run extensive test, of not run extensive test as mentioned in above post and let me know of it passed?
If it passed, create a new user account and check if that works:
- Select Settings.
- Tap Accounts.
- Select Family & other users.
- Tap "Add someone else to this PC."
- Select "I don't have this person's sign-in information."
- Select "Add a user without a Microsoft account."
- Enter a username, type the account's password twice, enter a clue and select Next.
- Tap the Windows icon.
- Select the User icon at the upper left corner of the Start menu.
- Select the new user. You'll then sign into your account with your password.
I hope that helps.

Hello. Yesterday I tried to write on forum but something was wrong in my message script as it was not showing up because I copied my answers from previous posts because I don't like repeating myself multiple times.
1) I did tests before and they passed all but i didn't do LOOP test on Xtreme.
2) I have account already.
3) I have trouble only with a battery when it is not plugged in. It heats up really high like oven. when Laptop on charge its like any other laptop, cool and quiet.
Ill try to put pics from 12 hours test below. This laptop was bough only at the end of Nowember 2019:
during test i Got warning only on charging port

@Ihor_92 If all the tests have passed, this seems to be an issue with the OS, I suggest you create a backup of all your personal data and then reset windows using the steps mentioned here,
If you wish to thank me for my efforts, you could click on "Accept as solution" on my post as the solution should help others too.
