Microsoft Windows 11

My battery is showing 0% whenever I plug it in, and a white light turns on directly. This happened today, but yesterday my battery was working properly and charging as well. I tried some solutions, but the problem has not been resolved. In the Device Manager, I deleted the battery drivers. After deleting the battery driver, it showed 100% battery, but when I remove the charger, the laptop shuts down. Basically, it starts directly on the CPU and does not use the battery. Please help me resolve this.

Hi @Yogesh1543,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your laptop is experiencing a significant issue with its battery or power management system. Here’s a structured approach to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Physical Connections

Inspect Battery and Charger: Ensure that both the battery and the charger connections are secure and free from any debris or damage.

Try Different Power Outlet: Plug the charger into a different power outlet or socket to rule out any issues with the power source.

2. Reset Power Management

  1. Perform Power Reset:
    • Shut down your laptop completely.
    • Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
    • Press and hold the Power button for about 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
    • Reinsert the battery (if removable) and reconnect the charger.
    • Turn on your laptop and check if the issue persists.

3. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings

  1. Access BIOS/UEFI:
    • Restart your laptop and repeatedly press the BIOS/UEFI access key (often F2, F10, Del, or Esc) during startup.
    • Navigate to the Power settings or Battery settings in BIOS/UEFI.
    • Ensure that battery settings are configured correctly and that the battery is recognized.

4. Update Battery Drivers

  1. Update Drivers:
    • In Device Manager, expand the Batteries category.
    • Right-click on each battery-related driver and select Update driver.
    • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the prompts to update.
    • Restart your laptop after updating the drivers.

5. Check Battery Health

  1. Use HP Support Assistant:
    • HP laptops often come with the HP Support Assistant software pre-installed.
    • Run HP Support Assistant to check the battery health and run diagnostics.

6. Run Hardware Diagnostics

  1. Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:
    • HP provides built-in hardware diagnostics that can help identify issues with the battery and other hardware components.
    • Restart your laptop and repeatedly press the Esc key until the Startup Menu appears.
    • Select F2 for System Diagnostics and run the tests related to battery health.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
