My battery has decided to expand out of my HP Spectre 360 case. This happened in a months time, and now the case is opening on both the left, right and center seams of the bottom laptop cover/case. My laptop is around 4 yrs old, but it is in excellent condition and has never left the office environment. I generally leave it unplugged because I do not have a good surge protector. The battery swelling does not seem to impact battery life because it holds the same duration of charge.
Other HP Tickets on line seem to identify this failure as a big issue. My Spectre x360's battery (which is a 6-cell, 84–WHr, 3.64Ah, Li-ion with PN:928372-855) definitely needs to be replaced. HP Support Assistant and HP website indicated that there is no safety recall warranty offered. Also, I received this statement from the Virtual Manager... "The HP Safety Council has investigated these issues and determined that there is no safety issue."
Does this mean I am safe to fly with my computer? I am a weary that this is a legal team response vice a HP Safety Council response. For this type of issue, I think the more information and details provided the better.
