I own a HP pavilion 15 cs0059nr. Recently, I'm facing a problem with my pc. When I charge it below 60%, it charges, but after reaching 60% it stops charging and the led indicator becomes amber to white. I tested the battery using HP support assistant and diagnostic tool, it sometimes says battery is normal (when it's below 60%) and sometimes says battery needs a replacement (when it's 60% and plugged in for a long time). I tried pretty much everything, recalibrating the battery, updating the bios, reinstalling the drivers for battery... Nothing helped me sort out this problem. What should I do now? Kindly respond...

Hi @HifjurRahman,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with an issue that could be related to either the battery itself or the power management system on your HP Pavilion 15. Since you've already tried several troubleshooting steps like recalibrating the battery, updating the BIOS, and reinstalling battery drivers, here are a few additional steps to consider.
Perform a Hard Reset
Sometimes, a hard reset can help clear any power management issues:
- Turn off your laptop.
- Disconnect the power adapter.
- Remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reinsert the battery and plug in the power adapter.
- Turn on the laptop and check if the charging behavior has improved.
Check Power Settings
Windows power settings may also be contributing to this issue. Try the following:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery.
- Under Battery, check if the Battery saver or any charging threshold settings are turned on.
- If you see a setting like “Battery Health Management” enabled, try disabling it to see if that resolves the issue.
HP Battery Check via BIOS
Since you've used the HP Support Assistant, also run a battery diagnostic test from the BIOS:
- Turn off your laptop and then power it on while pressing the ESC key to access the startup menu.
- Press F2 to run the diagnostics.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to perform the battery test.
- This will provide more detailed insight into whether the battery itself is failing.
Try Using Another Charger
If possible, try using a different compatible charger to rule out a faulty power adapter.
Consider a Replacement Battery
If none of the above steps resolve the issue and the battery continues to show inconsistent results (normal below 60% but failing to charge at or above 60%), it might be time to replace the battery. Batteries can degrade over time, and if it's no longer holding a proper charge, a replacement may be necessary.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
