Got a completely unhelpful response, perhaps automated, from HP Customer Service regarding a very swollen battery for my Spectre. Presume HP makes it hard to buy new batteries, instead wanting people to buy new computers.
The Service Support email was signed as follows - showing that no one was paying attention (it really did say "Agent Name" vs giving a name). Thoughts on how I should proceed?
Sincerely,
Agent Name

How about starting with providing the product name and product number? Look on the bottom of the notebook for that information. Another way to find it is to press the power button and then immediately tap the F1 key to invoke system information.
Without that important information my hands are tied.
Is your notebook still in warranty?
Many notebooks that have battery issues such as your describe are generally safety issues in which the battery must be replaced.

Thanks Erico.
Unit is 3 years old, out of warranty.
Product name : HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ae0xx
Product number : 1WU65AV
Lots of swelling, as per the picture. I'm sure the battery must be replaced. HP is just making it difficult to find the place to order, and i am a novice

OK.
HP part number and spec Battery (3-cell, 60-WHr, 5.275-AHr, Li-ion) 929072-855 (page 21 Item 14 in the manual)
Amazon is a good source for the battery. I suggest choosing five stars.

Here is the service manual

I will try to find a video for battery replacement and post in here in your thread. You will need a miniature PC (notebook) screwdriver set. This is not a difficult task.
Document explaining how to remove the base. Be very careful when removing the rubber strips. A replacement set costs as much as the replacement battery.

I found the remove replace video from HP specifically for your notebook and mine as well.
