Dear All,

I bought a new battery on Amazon, however, I am not able to synchronize it with the laptop... The battery is working fine and 100% charged. However, the laptop couldn't recognize it. I tried multiple times to sync with the laptop, but in vain. What do you suggest?

Regards,

Sherif

It is not a matter of synchronization.

The  S.M.A.R.T. battery uses the notebook's  System Management Bus (SMBus) to communicate with the notebook's Operating system and firmware.

The battery you installed is just not communicating as it should.

You could ask the vendor you bought it from for an RMI to get a replacement.

You will have to decide whether or not it will be worth the effort.

I have replaced many notebook batteries and have not had that issue to date.

There is the possibility that the battery's connector is not plugged in completely to the header on the system board. Inspect the header and connector for any burns, possible damage or corrosion.

Dear Erico,

Thanks a lot for your reply. The answer you've described below, does it normally happen when the battery isn't original? Because mine isn't original...and if yes, does that mean I've to purchase an original battery, otherwise the laptop won't work and accept the non-original one?

And what is RMI, please? I am not that familiar with it.

Regards,

Sherif

By the way, the message I always get when I do battery check, is "Unknown" and the check won't proceed, because the battery is unknown to the laptop, though the indicator signals 100% charged.

The batteries I have installed have never been OEM.

I have not had the misfortune to have received a battery that would might cause an experience like  yours.

The likely causes are as I described in my previous post.

You can read up on S.M.A.R.T.  laptop batteries on your own to get more information.
