@Petlover2, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Battery Backup Issues on HP Laptops!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP laptop's battery drains quickly and you can only use it for about an hour, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Battery Condition

Battery Health Check:

  • Use HP Support Assistant to check the battery's health.
  • Open HP Support Assistant, select the "Battery" option, and follow the instructions to run the battery test.

BIOS Update:

  • Ensure that your laptop's BIOS is up to date. Visit the HP Support website to find the latest BIOS update for your model.

Optimize Power Settings

Power Settings:

  • Adjust the power settings for better battery life. Go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options" and select a power-saving plan.

Brightness Adjustment:

  • Reduce the screen brightness to save battery power. Lower brightness levels can significantly increase battery life.

Unnecessary Processes and Applications

Close Background Applications:

  • Close unnecessary applications running in the background that might consume battery power.

Task Manager:

  • Use Task Manager to end processes that are not required. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, go to the "Processes" tab, and end unnecessary tasks.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
