OK, but it is confusing that the HP Support Assistant displays the message "tap here to learn how Battery is calibrated" after you run the Battery check, while NO explanation is given on HOW to calibrate the battery...

Battery calibration is to done by the battery check.
It is a measure of time to discharge compared to the design discharge characteristics.
What a battery calibration does is reset what full storage capacity is relative to the current capacity of the battery.
It means that a calibrated 100% will no longer be 100% of the battery design storage capacity.
That current, as in what is currently available, capacity is a number which diminishes over time.
That is the way it is with all batteries, even the AAA batteries you use in an HDTV remote control.
If a battery is nearing its end of service and 100% is 50% or lower of the design capacity, it battery will still only have a very short period of mobile use before it warns of low battery.
I do hope that makes it a bit clearer.
