Hello,
It has been close to 27 months of using this laptop and I have faced no issues concerning battery. However, since the past 2 months, the charging automatically stops at a certain battery level (usually 70% to 80%). It begins to charge again and then stops after a few seconds. It's been really confusing as to what is really causing this intermittent start-stop charging cycle when the adapter is connected to a continuous power supply.
Initially, charging used to stop at 80% or so and the LED at the charging port used to turn WHITE from ORANGE (which indicates the charging status). Even the charging symbol at the status bar turns off and on intermittently. I am really not sure what is causing this- hardware or a software issue. Can anyone help in this regard?

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.
Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager:
1) In the search box, type and open “Device Manager”.
2) Expand “Batteries”.
3) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
4) Click on “Uninstall”.
5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver
6) Shutdown the computer.
7) Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in.
😎 When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.
9) Go to Device Manager.
10) Expand Batteries.
11) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.
12) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"
Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.
Restart the computer.

Thanks for responding,
I tried the procedure as instructed by you but the problem still persists. As I write this, my laptop is plugged in with 77% charge and the charging stops and starts intermittently. I am afraid this might affect my battery life in the long run. Earlier I had also tried the diagnostics tool for battery and charger and it didn't flag any issue. Could you please suggest some other remedies?
I found this link pertaining to a similar issue but I don't know if I should follow the same steps.

Earlier a new update of BIOS was available at HP Support, I had already installed it back then. I have tried a hard reset too but the problem still persists. However, there is one observation I would like to share- As far as I remember, I started encountering issues after manually updating to the new Windows 10 2004 feature update in May. I cannot fathom if this issue is somewhere related to the OS update, hence request you to suggest the future course of action.
