HP Notebook - 15-af131dx (ENERGY STAR)

My laptop goes to battery charging mode even though i have removed the battery. Power light is orange and if i closed the lid power light is blinking in white.

If i hibernate/shutdown in this condition system wont boot to HP logo. Only i can see some lights on my screen.

Only thing works if i left the system closed for some hours.

Hi @far10han,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you have an HP Notebook - 15 and no battery installed, the laptop will typically operate directly from the power supply without relying on battery power. In this scenario, the laptop will function in AC (alternating current) mode, meaning it will draw power from the electrical outlet through the power adapter.

Without a battery, the laptop will continue to operate as long as it remains connected to a power source. However, it's important to note that removing the battery from a laptop is not recommended unless there is a specific need to do so. The battery provides backup power in case of an electrical outage or when you need to use your laptop in a location without access to a power outlet.

Moreover, using a laptop without a battery can increase the risk of data loss if there is a sudden power loss or if the power adapter becomes accidentally disconnected. The battery acts as a buffer and helps to prevent data loss in such situations.

If you decide to use your HP Notebook - 15 without a battery installed, ensure that you have a stable power supply and take precautions to avoid accidental disconnection of the power adapter.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your response.

As you mentioned laptop should run fine without battery but in my case system starts fine and after sometime goes to battery charging mode i.e. power light goes from white to orange and battery icon in notification area shows "Charging". Yesterday it was showing 255% charge.

Now if i shut down or hibernate my system in this condition it wont boot again. Only i can see some lights on my screen but HP logo wont appear. Only i can do is shut down by keep on pressing power button for some seconds.

To use the laptop again, i have to wait for some hours so it can boot normally.

Note: There is no battery in the system in this whole problem.

Hope i made it clear this time.
