HP Pavilion x360 14 CD0056TX

I purchased my laptop on September 13 2018 in Chennai, India. I purchased it because the company advertised as 11 hours battery life on its websites and I felt it suits my needs because I will be working for long hours and I need a laptop to work on without worrying for charging. Mostly I do programming and light web browsing for my job , but after 2 months of purchase I noticed a decrease in battery life and took my laptop to the nearest authorised service center. The service guy took one week and returned my laptop and said that there are no battery issues found. He also stated that this laptop is designed to last only 4 to  5 hours and it would never give the promised 11 hours battery usage.

I am shocked to hear those statements. Why HP is advertising 11 hours when it only gives 4 hours of usage for basic web browsing stuff.

I also posted a query on  HP facebook page and got a reply that the laptop would last for 11 hours on standby mode without doing any task.

Am I idiot to purchase a laptop to keep it in standby mode without using it for 11 hours. I expected to give atleast 8 hours on a normal usage, but it only gives  5 hours at max when using the laptop with the background apps closed and keeping the screen brigthness and lowest possible.

Why are you making your customers fool by providing false battery claims.

I have made a big mistake by purchasing the HP laptop.

All laptop makers do the same thing. 5-6 hours is about all the real work you can get out of a laptop battery.

Nobody is making anyone a fool. Good luck.

I am fed up with my battery issue. If the laptop only lasts 5 hours why mislead people by advertising 11 hours. I purchased the laptop just because of the 11 hours it mentioned. Now after a 15 months I had to charge my laptop for 2 to 3 times daily. I also checked the reviews for my laptop model on Amazon all the users are having the same battery issues lasting only 3 to 4 hours on normal usage. The laptop costs more than 100k in India and how can I expect such a poor battery performance.

On the other hand I see 2017 macbook air giving 7-8 hours battery life after 2 years of usage. I came to know about this on youtube. I also saw a video showing that macbook pro lasted 12 hours on itunes movie playback against the advertised 10 hours by Apple.

Now this is what called as living uptot the expectations. I am thinking that Apple is true on its claims. Many of my friends have no issue with macbooks and happily using for about 3 years without visiting the service centre.

Why cant HP provide a bigger battery. I am losing interest in HP and buying a Macbook pro.

How do you think a person will survive with 3- 4 hours battery life. Can I travel to long distances watching movies without worrying about charging.

Its 2020 and 4 hours is insufficient. After analysing the figures I came to know that HP laptops from 2012, 2013 also had the same 4 hours battery mark. You can check this on youtube.

And after 6 years the battery still remains 4 hours.

What kind of innovation is this?????????

1. I think your problem may be that you take what you see on Youtube at face value. Somebody posted a video saying he or she gets 8 hours battery life out of a MacBook and you assume that's true. But you are going to buy one so you will get a chance to test it yourself.

2. HP can't provide a bigger battery because buyers want slim looking laptops. Yes its 2020 but Lithium ion chemistry has not changed so there have not really been major improvements in laptop battery life. When they come its by making the laptop use less power not by making the battery hold more power.

Not only youtube I also discussed with my friends and they say that they are able to get more than 10 hours when used for watching movies and basic office stuff on their macbook airs and pros.

The funniest thing is that I also tested my laptop full charged to 100 percent, set the screen time out to "Never" and observed the decrease in the battery life. To my surprise the battery fell 15- 16 % per hour and the laptop died withing 5 hours, in standby mode without even touching the laptop.

Even the claim that it would give 11 hours is also proved to be false. So no matter what I do it is confirmed that I would not get more than 4 hours when continuously browsing the web and doing my office projects.

You say that HP cannot put bigger battery, If that is the case how can Apple put 100 wh battery on their new Macbook pro 16 inch, and  still make the product compact to use on a daily basis.

The fact is that HP used a 3 cell 41 wh battery on my laptop and on contrary macbook air 2019 model which is almost the same price is giving 12 hours of wireless web browsing (as said by my friend and as promised by Apple on its website).

And the most surprising thing is that I have seen many battery draining test videos of macbook showing they are able to get 8 hours of continuous usage of all kinds of apps at 70 % brightness and 50 % volume. Isn't it surprising of how macbooks perfom.

If I continue to use my laptop with settings as mentioned above my laptop would die within 2 hours.

Though I have seen some models of HP like the 2019 hp spectre x360 giving 13 hours battery life, I am not getting the trust these reviews because some say it lasted more than 10 hours and others say it dies within 5 hours.

Even I have seen complaints about the battery life of spectre x360 battery drain issue on your HP community, you can check those.

So with these experiences I came to know that HP is not interested in putting the best batteries on its laptops , but will make false claims about battery life.

If other companies are able to do it why can't you???

If you have any doubt that I am talking nonsense see these videos and reply

Now tell me is it the HP fault for not including the bigger batteries or Microsoft's fault for not optimising windows 10.

It's not "me". I do not work for HP. I also wonder why these extreme battery life claims?? I'm just saying, by now most people know to take them with a grain of salt.

Other laptop makers do similar things, by the way.
