HP 15-f2000 Laptop PC (30K17AV)

Hello,

I have an HP laptop that's just about a year old. I've been facing a persistent battery issue where I can't use the laptop without keeping it plugged in continuously. If I unplug it, the battery drains very quickly.

Additionally, when I connect the charger, the battery percentage immediately jumps to 100% without actually taking time to charge.

I ran the HP diagnostic tool, and it's showing the battery health status as "No battery detected."

Has anyone experienced a similar issue, or could someone provide guidance on how to resolve this?

Thank you!

Hi @Venu2251421,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're dealing with a battery or power management issue on your HP 15 laptop. The rapid battery drain combined with the battery percentage jumping to 100% immediately after plugging in suggests either a hardware malfunction in the battery or issues with the battery drivers.

Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off your laptop and disconnect it from the charger.
  • Remove the battery (if it's removable). For non-removable batteries, proceed to the next step.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge residual electricity.
  • Reconnect the battery (or leave it if non-removable) and the charger, and power on the laptop.

Update Battery Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager by pressing Win + X and selecting it from the menu.
  • Expand Batteries and right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery.
  • Select Uninstall device, then restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the drivers.

Run HP Battery Check Tool:

  • You can access HP’s built-in diagnostics tool again to check the battery. However, if the tool is saying "No battery detected," the battery may be failing or the connection between the battery and the motherboard might be faulty.

Check BIOS Version:

  • Make sure your BIOS is up to date. Sometimes, an outdated BIOS can cause battery-related issues. You can download the latest BIOS update from the HP Support Website.

Perform a Battery Calibration:

  • Fully charge the battery to 100%, then disconnect the charger and let the battery drain completely until the laptop powers off. Once it's off, recharge it to 100% without interruptions.
  • Repeat this process a couple of times to recalibrate the battery.

Battery Replacement:

Since the HP diagnostic tool reports "No battery detected," this may indicate a hardware issue with the battery itself. If the steps above don't help, it's possible the battery has failed and needs replacing.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
