The problem started 2 weeks back.I don't remember how long the battery lasted on full charge. But now it's lasting around 1 and 1/2 hours.Charging is also very slow. The battery stats may be wrong. It charges to only 53% at max and says remaining time to charge 18:00 hrs.But it won't charge though. My model is Hp Au111tx with running ubuntu 18.04(dual boot)

It would help if you identified your notebook with a complete product name or the ProdID found in the tiny lettering on the bottom of your notebook.

AU111TX is not a product name for an HP notebook.

Do you have an HP 15-AU111TX notebook instead?

Since you have Ubuntu installed, you do not have access to the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics that is available with an F11 keystroke on a Windows notebook.

You will need to download the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics 4-IN-1 USB key sp92620.exe on a Windows PC and then install it to a USB key that has  about 4 - 16 GB of storage capacity. Boot to it and run the diagnostics to test your battery.  Use the following link to go to the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics portal.
