Hi @Noor29,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Laptop 15 DW is experiencing rapid battery drain, there are several steps you can take to diagnose and potentially solve the issue.

  • Check Power Settings: Make sure that your laptop is not running on a high-performance power plan. Switch to a balanced or power-saving plan to optimize battery usage.
  • Background Processes: Check for any background processes or applications that might be consuming excessive resources. Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) can help you identify such processes.
  • Update Drivers: Outdated drivers can sometimes cause increased power consumption. Visit HP's official website and update all drivers, especially graphics and chipset drivers.
  • Screen Brightness: High screen brightness consumes a significant amount of power. Lower the screen brightness or use adaptive brightness settings.
  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth when not in use, as they can drain the battery by constantly searching for connections.
  • Background Apps: Make sure no unnecessary apps are running in the background. Close or disable apps that you're not actively using.
  • Battery Health: Over time, laptop batteries can degrade, leading to decreased battery life. Check the battery health through HP's diagnostic tools or third-party software.
  • Windows Updates: Ensure your operating system is up to date. Updates often include bug fixes and optimizations that can improve battery life.
  • Malware Scan: Malware or viruses could cause increased power consumption due to unauthorized background processes. Run a full system scan with a reputable antivirus program.
  • External Devices: Disconnect any unnecessary external devices like USB drives, printers, or external hard drives, as they can consume power even when not in use.
  • Battery Calibration: Sometimes, calibrating the battery can help recalibrate the battery reporting and improve its accuracy. HP might have a guide on how to do this for your specific laptop model.
  • Power-Hungry Applications: Some applications are more power-intensive than others. Video editing, gaming, and other resource-intensive tasks can drain the battery quickly. Use such applications when plugged into power.
  • Hibernate/Sleep Mode: When you're not actively using your laptop, put it in sleep or hibernate mode. This can significantly reduce power consumption.
  • Background Sync: Cloud sync and background processes can also consume power. Check settings for apps that sync data in the background and adjust their intervals.
  • Battery Saver Mode: Windows has a built-in Battery Saver mode that can help limit background activity and save power. Enable it for extended battery life.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
