Hi @5CD1362TGW,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP laptop battery is draining extremely fast, losing about 1% every 30 seconds. Let’s go through a few steps to identify and fix the issue.

1. Check Battery Health

Press Windows + X → Open Windows Terminal (Admin).

Type powercfg /batteryreport → Enter.

Open the generated battery-report.html file to check battery capacity and health.

If the design capacity vs full charge capacity shows a large difference, the battery may be worn out.

2. Update Drivers & BIOS

Open HP Support Assistant → Check for battery, chipset, and BIOS updates.

Outdated firmware or drivers can cause abnormal battery drain.

3. Adjust Power Settings

Go to Settings > System > Power & battery > Battery saver.

Enable Battery Saver and reduce screen brightness.

Use the recommended or better battery life power mode.

4. Check for Background Processes

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → Open Task Manager → Processes.

Identify apps using high CPU or disk resources and close unnecessary ones.

5. Disable Fast Startup & Unnecessary Services

Press Windows + R, type control, enter → Hardware & Sound → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do → Uncheck Turn on fast startup.

Some services (e.g., unnecessary startup apps) can drain battery rapidly.

6. Perform a Battery Calibration

Fully charge the laptop to 100%, then use it until it drains completely and shuts down.

Charge it again to 100% without interruption. This recalibrates battery reporting.

I hope this helps.
