Subject: Complaint Regarding Laptop Battery Draining Too Quickly

Dear [Support Team / Sir / Madam],

I am writing to report an issue I am facing with my laptop's battery performance. The battery is draining unusually fast, even during minimal usage, which is affecting my work efficiency.

Here are the device details for your reference:

Device Name: LAPTOP-T8S9LLGM

Processor: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1215U @ 1.20 GHz

Installed RAM: 8.00 GB (7.68 GB usable)

Device ID: 954ACC3F-1384-45CA-AB98-2BD6CB1BE040

Product ID: 00356-24741-52875-AAOEM

System Type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Pen and Touch: No pen or touch input is available for this display

Despite keeping the system updated and using battery saver mode, the battery continues to discharge rapidly. I kindly request you to look into this issue and guide me with a suitable resolution—whether a battery replacement, software fix, or further diagnosis is required.

Looking forward to your prompt assistance.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Hi @Diya28

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for your patience. I understand how disruptive battery issues can be, especially when you're trying to stay productive.

Here's a comprehensive guide based on verified HP sources and community-tested solutions to help you resolve the battery drain problem on your HP ENVY x360 15-ey0000 laptop.

Symptoms You Described

  • Battery drains quickly even during light usage.
  • Battery saver mode and updates don’t help.
  • No pen or touch input available (likely unrelated but noted).

Recommended Steps to Diagnose and Fix Battery Drain

1. Run HP Battery Diagnostics

Use the HP Support Assistant or HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool:

  • Download from HP Support Assistant.
  • Run the Battery Check to see if the battery is failing or degraded.

You can also generate a Windows Battery Report:

powercfg /batteryreport

This creates a detailed HTML report showing battery capacity trends and usage.

2. Update BIOS and Battery Drivers

Outdated firmware can cause battery mismanagement:

3. Reset Battery Drivers

This is a common fix:

  • Open Device Manager
  • Expand Batteries
  • Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
  • Select Uninstall device
  • Restart your laptop—Windows will reinstall the correct driver automatically.

4. Optimize Power Settings in Windows 11

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & Battery
  • Set Power Mode to Best power efficiency
  • Enable Battery Saver
  • Reduce Screen brightness
  • Set shorter screen timeout and sleep timers

5. Close Background Apps

Use Task Manager to identify apps consuming power:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
  • End tasks for unused apps (especially browsers, antivirus, or sync tools)

6. Check for Overheating

Heat can cause battery drain:

  • Use laptop on a hard surface
  • Clean vents and fans
  • Avoid using on soft surfaces like beds or cushions
