Hi @Lovely_tomae,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Having your laptop's battery drain quickly can indeed be frustrating, especially when you rely on it for your studies. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue.

Check Power Settings:

  • Make sure your laptop's power settings are optimized for battery life. You can adjust these settings in Windows by going to Control Panel > Power Options. Choose a power plan that conserves battery, such as the "Power saver" plan.

Close Background Applications:

  • Sometimes, background applications and processes can drain battery life significantly. Make sure to close any unnecessary applications running in the background.

Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Outdated drivers or BIOS can sometimes cause battery drain issues. Check HP's support website for your laptop model and ensure you have the latest drivers and BIOS updates installed.

Reduce Screen Brightness:

  • Lowering your screen brightness can significantly reduce power consumption. Adjust it to a comfortable level that still allows you to work effectively.

Disable Unused Hardware:

  • If you're not using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or other hardware features, consider disabling them temporarily to conserve battery.

Check for Malware or Background Processes:

  • Malware or unnecessary background processes can also drain battery. Run a malware scan and check Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) for any processes consuming a lot of CPU resources.

Calibrate Your Battery:

  • Occasionally, calibrating your laptop's battery can help improve its accuracy in reporting charge levels. To do this, fully charge your laptop, then let it discharge completely until it shuts down. Charge it back to full again without interruptions.

Check Battery Health:

  • Use HP's support tools to check the health of your laptop's battery. If it's significantly degraded, you may need to consider replacing it.

Optimize Applications:

  • Some applications can be more resource-intensive than others. Ensure any development environments or applications you use are optimized and updated to reduce unnecessary resource consumption.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
