HP Envy 15 j022el
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi everyone, first of all I have a HP Envy 15 j022el originally running Windows 8.1 upgraded to Windows 10 when it was realeased and I haven't got any problem since then. Some days ago I received the last Windows 10 Fall Creator Update and then I started having some serious problem with the battery. Actually the battery completely drains in 10 minutes even with 100% charge. The problem, according to Microsoft, is that my laptop drivers are not compatible anymore with the last update so I've been forced to downgrade to the last working version. Is there any chance that HP will release new drivers that are compatible with this new update?

Thanks in advance and have a nice day.

PS: sorry for my english, I've tried my best.

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand the battery drivers aren't working,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Do you have any specific issues with the battery driver?

Have you attempted to reinstall the battery drivers?

While you respond to that, here's what you could do:

  • Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.
  • Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.
  • Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,
  • Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed

Do get back to me as I have a few more tricks up my sleeve,

That said, If I have helped you resolve the issue,

feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon

Hi, the main problem is that after few minutes (15 more or less) the battery completely drains out even if the battery level is high (according to Windows). Since I haven't got any problem until I installed the new Windows Fall Creator Update I'm quite sure that the problem is an incopatibility of my battery drivers with this new OS version.
I can't do what you suggest because as I said I cannot reach the 15% battery level.

Yesterady I downgraded to the previous Windows version and the problem seams to be resolved confirming my hypothesis about the drivers incopatibility.

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

Normally, if there are such compatibility issues as you claim,

Microsoft releases a patch that would resolve such issues in the next batch of updates,

Hence its recommended to install all available windows updates from both HPSA & Microsoft to resolve the issue.

Also, you may want to reinstall the battery drivers without the waiting period as it doesn't go back to 15% per say,

And keep me posted,

If I have helped you resolve the issue,

And Have a great day Ahead!
