HP Pavilion Power - 15-cb030nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Recently I ran a test with the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows 1.5.2.0 tool and the battery- check failed.
The tool showed this error-ID code: 9GANKH-8PM97U-MFPURG-C09R13

Can somebody tell me the meaning of this code? I've searched for it on the HP forum and Google, but found no info.

Thanks!

It simply means "Battery 1" has failed. You cannot search for the Code because it is a unique identifier generated by your machine and tells when it was run and the serial number of the machine it was run on so Support can authenticate it.

What it really means, bottom line, the battery needs replaced and we are happy to help you find one. If under warranty report the failure to HP for warranty replacement.

Hello @Bennic,

Failure ID 9GANKH-8PM97U-MFPURG-C09R13 translates to Failure Code 601 or Battery 1.

"If Primary (internal) Battery (601) appears in the alert message, it means the measured storage capacity of the primary (internal) battery is less than 25% of the original storage capacity. The number “601” denotes the associated error code that is recorded in the system log."

The Failure ID's are unique generated codes and therefore wouldn't bring up identical results in a search engine.

It doesn't seem like you are under warranty so you would need to replace the battery yourself for continued operation. The HP Pavilion Power - 15-cb030nd uses a Battery, 4 cell, 70 Wh, 4.55 Ah with HP Spare Part number 917724-855.

You can then use the HP Spare part number(s) in the HP Parts store hereYou may also be able to find it elsewhere on the Internet. Note that genuine batteries are most recommended.

Hope this helps,

Eddy

Thanks for your reply,

I bought the laptop in September 2017, there is a minimum 2 year warranty in The Netherlands ( and the whole EU).

So it can be replaced under warranty, right?

Well according to the law, yes but I'm actually quite curious about how this all works.

I read about this here but I found that HP determined your product as "out of warranty."

Maybe an HP Expert here that lives in the EU has something to say?

2 years of strictly enforced guaranteed warranty on all consumer goods seems to good to be true from the point of a North American.

For as long the UK is still a member of the EU, it also applies to the UK, but I guess that will not last very long 😉

I found some details about the Battery test. here is the log:

I know a few things about Li ion cells and the voltages seem right, all around 4.2 volts, which is a full charge.
The full charge capacity is 10% less than the original design capacity. 10% in a year is OK..
But this line: "Primary_TestresultString: BLOWN_FUSE", that's odd.. I'm using the laptop right now, so the fuse is fine.

I must say that the reason I started the the test was not even about the battery. I started the test because I use a USB-c to  HDMI adapter wich fails randomly and I don't know why. I use a setup with 2 external screens. One uses the HDMI port and the other one uses the USB-C port. The HDMI port always works fine, but the USB-C, used as a display port, rondomly stops working.

Do you know how I can check the USB-C port (in alternate mode: display port)?
