Product : HP Pavilion Notebook – 15-ab257ng (ENERGY STAR)
Operating System : Windows 10 (64bit)
Brief summary: My battery doesn't charge when connected to the charger.
Problem : The battery display shows "0% available ( plugged in, not charging )" .
I ran the Hardware diagnostic test and I got the following error:
Test: Component test ( Power source test)
Battery Check: Primary - Replace (40)
Primary : Logic State - Bad Cell (40)
Charge State - Not Available
Failure ID : 9C42TF-894AJ1-MFPX6J-CA3D03
Test : Component test (Charging Port test)
Charging Port Test : FAILED
Failure ID: 9C42TF-894AJ1-MFPX6J-08AH03
Things I did: Before ordering a new battery I tried every possible way I could to locate the source of this problem.
I checked the mother board and AC adapter thoroughly. The laptop works fine without battery. I couldn't find any problem there.
I am now completely clueless about what the failure ID says. It is cryptic to me.
Could someone explain what that failure IDs mean?
I am extremely grateful to you!
Thanks in advance!
UPDATE:
Here are some additional things I did:
1) Complete re-installation of Windows 10 (64-Bit)
2) Updating all the diver modules, including BIOS update
3) Checked the date and time
4) Removing the battery and 15 second power button press to drain and putting back the battery etc.,
Unfortunately, none of the above procedures solved the issue.

Hi:
Here are the failure reports generated by the codes you posted, minus your notebook's serial number...
9C42TF-894AJ1-MFPX6J-CA3D03 | OK | XXXXXXXXXX | 3/6/21 | 628 | Power | AC Adaptor, Battery, Cache Battery Pack, Charger, Power Cord, Power Supply | Battery 1 Bad Cell |
9C42TF-894AJ1-MFPX6J-08AH03 | OK | XXXXXXXXXX | 3/6/21 | 21 | System/Processor Board | Backplane Board, System Board, Processor, Processor Board | Charging Port |
Seems like your notebook's has two problems going on...
A bad battery, and a bad charging port.
The charging port problem could be serious.
I would check for bent or damaged connectors by removing and replacing the battery.
If everything looks normal, the motherboard is probably bad, and would need to be replaced.

Thank you for the swift response. I will examine the possibilities. I am not 100% certain whether those are the real issues.
Nevertheless, you answered my questions which are about the meanings of these failure IDs. So, I accept your answer as a valid solution. I will post the result If I find the real issue:)
