I want to purchase a new primary battery for my Hp elitebook 840 G2 from hp store, but i couldn't find any

You don't have to buy it from HP. Buy it form an online vendor

Either of the two   batteries below are compatible.

3-cell, 50-WHr, 4.5-AHr                     717376-001
3-cell, 24-WHr, 2.4-AHr                     717375-001

Use "genuine HP 717375-001 battery" as the keywords when you search online.

My search for a replacement battery for your laptop

Only use genuine HP batteries that have the HP part number and the HP logo on them.

Non-genuine (generic), ( i.e HT03XL) batteries are known to sometimes not work as expected because of their non standard programming of the internal BMS (battery management system) chip.

If you read through threads in the forum related to problems after battery replacement you will see many members who have used generic batteries complaining that they are not working as expected.
