Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?
HP Recommended
Pavilion 17-g121DS
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I happened to notice when I hovered my mouse over the charging icon in the notification area the following: 85% available (plugged in, not charging). I switched to the power cable from my other HP laptop to check and see if I had a bad cable or adapter and the notice did not change. I opened the Windows 10 April 2018 system and ran their power troubleshooter and it did not register any problems, Anyone have any idea why my system is not keeping my battery charged?

Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option. Tap F2 key and select Component tests to test battery and power adapter.

If F2 doesn't have all of the tests, download and install latest HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI under Diagnostics category on your software/drivers page:
