Sounds like its working. Linux power management is actually pretty good these days with recent kernels. Was not always the case.

You gotta keep Linux up to date. I have been using it since about 1999 and in the old days it was a constant struggle. These days I frankly do not understand why everyone is not using it. It's that good. But its good because the community keeps it updated and constantly improves it.

I always update the software. Just not the kernal too often. Can come with hardware incompatability at the end.

Maybe. Usually enough to just do distro updates. Not the Betas only stable versions.
