Common problems for Battery

The Message is shown like this "The battery is functioning correctly, but due to normal ageing of the battery, the battery life between charges is now significantly shorter than when the battery was new. " What should I do? Can I approach to Hp service centre and replace the battery or Update the Software? or any other suggestions...

Welcome to the HP Community.

 

It is normal that batteries degrade as they age.

The message makes sense in context.

 

My opinion

 

When the diagnostics show the battery as failing / failed (it apparently does not do so now),

If the computer is in warranty at the time of the failure,

Submit case to HP Support and ask to have the battery replaced in warranty.

 

If you want the battery replaced before it fails, you can decide to replace the battery.

NOTE:  Replacing the battery yourself is the much faster option.

The ONLY catch:  If you replace the battery and you break something else, what you break won't be covered in warranty.

 

Updating the software does nothing for an old, weak battery.

 

Choices:

Let the battery fail - it is fails during the warranty, submit a case to HP.

Replace the battery yourself at a time that suits your schedule.

 

For those reading - What about the Battery?

"Fat" Battery / Bloated Battery / Swollen Battery – Sealed / Internal Battery

 

  • Swollen battery might be hiding OR there might be evidence that the battery has inflated.  For example, notebook case is warped, touchpad stops working, “odd” bulging near the keyboard.

 

  • If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.  There are no other remedies, tests, or useful options.

Purchase a compatible battery from your favorite online merchant when HP does not provide the battery you need.

 

 

Find your Product - Open the device homepage > Category Manuals > Service Guide

Find Parts and Replacement Procedure

      Open Product Home    >> Enter the full model name

  • When the website opens, select category Manuals
  • Look for and open the Maintenance and Service guide for your computer (document name varies)
  • Search for “Battery” to find parts and replacement  >> Read the chapter on Replacement Procedures

  1. The exact name of the service document varies, though usually the word "service" or "maintenance" is included in the name. 
  2. The "Service Guide" and "User Guide" are not the same documents.
