Call me for 691 error in battery

The 691 error on an HP laptop typically indicates a problem with the battery — either it's not detected, failing, or there's a communication issue between the battery and the system.

 

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and possibly fix the issue:

 

1. Perform a Hard Reset

Shut down the laptop.

Disconnect the power adapter.

If removable, remove the battery.

Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual power.

Reinsert the battery and plug in the power adapter.

Power on the laptop and check if the error persists.

 

2. Check Battery Connection

If the battery is removable, make sure it’s properly seated.

Inspect the battery and contacts for dust or debris; clean gently if needed.

 

3. Run HP Battery Diagnostic

Turn on the laptop.

Press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.

Press F2 to enter Diagnostics.

Select Battery Test and run it.

Note any error codes or results.

 

4. Update BIOS

Go to the HP Support website.

Enter your laptop model and download the latest BIOS update.

Follow instructions carefully to update BIOS, which can improve battery communication.

 

5. Replace the Battery

If diagnostics report a failure, the battery may need replacement.

Purchase an HP genuine battery compatible with your laptop model.
