I refered to the other threads but in my case UEFI is showing :

Battery Check - Primary Replace(42)

Calibration required (20) , I am wondering if I could fix it by calibration or should I have to go for a battery replace.

Sure, try calibration.

The worst that will happen is that the battery will actually fail all the way and report a 601 error (or similar).

Battery seems “stuck” in a particular charge setting

The battery might be OK and just need calibration (balance / set).

>>>  Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 10)    <<<

If calibration fails to help OR the results are even worse afterwards...

It is likely that the battery is bad - or going in that direction.

If that is the case, the battery should be replaced.

@Dragon-Fur thanks for helping out, I tried calibration (AC cable > shut down > remove battery > uninstall drivers > insert battery) but again same issue is there i.e stucked at 32% not charging and can operate while cable plugged in. One observation is battery is little bit swollen. Is only replacement is solution now?

For those reading, a reminder:  Calibration is not the same as a Forced / Hard Reset

@the-vishal

You are welcome.

Unfortunately (depending on how you look at it)  - yes, the only solution for a swollen battery is replacement.

There are no tests, resting, calibration steps to fix a bloated, failing battery.

At least the solution path is clear - replace.

If necessary, the computer can run without the battery, though it will be totally dependent on AC power and therefore vulnerable should the power fail.  If you have one - or can lay your hands on it - consider using a battery backup unit when / if you are forced to run the computer without its battery.

My first post includes the essential information you need (part number(s) and procedure).

Reminder:  HP does not always (in fact, does rarely) provide an HP replacement battery at the HP Store.

Find a compatible battery using the part number - purchase from your favorite / trusted / otherwise acceptable merchant in your region.
