Hello,

I am contacting you regarding a battery issue with my HP Omen 16 (model 16-xf0xxx), which is no longer under warranty. Here are the details:

  • Design capacity: 83,000 mWh

  • Current full charge capacity: 73,300 mWh

  • Capacity loss: Nearly 12% in less than 2 months

  • Additional issues: Abnormal daily fluctuations in battery capacity (variations of 2,000 mWh or more on some days)

My laptop is used mostly while plugged in.

These symptoms suggest a possible hardware defect. I would like to request an official diagnostic to confirm the issue and get guidance on battery replacement options, even though the device is no longer under warranty.

Thank you in advance for your help. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Yahya Aferdi

Hi @yahyaafe,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Battery Calibration:

  • If not done recently, calibrate your battery. Fully charge your laptop, then let it discharge completely and recharge again to reset the battery's gauge.

Battery Health Monitoring:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant tool to check battery health and receive recommendations. You can download HP Support Assistant from here.

Reduce Battery Stress:

  • Avoid keeping the battery at 100% or 0%. Aim to keep it between 20%-80% for longer life, and unplug it periodically if used mostly when plugged in to let the battery discharge a bit.

Check for Software Updates:

  • Ensure your BIOS and battery management software are up to date. You can find updates on the HP support website.

Optimize Power Settings:

  • Use power-saving settings within Windows by navigating to Settings > System > Power & sleep. Adjust the settings to reduce battery consumption.

Check Environmental Conditions:

  • Ensure your laptop is not exposed to extreme temperatures, as these can affect battery health.

Battery Replacement:

  • If the issue persists and your battery continues to degrade rapidly beyond normal wear, consider replacing the battery. Genuine HP batteries are recommended for compatibility and warranty.

I hope this helps.
