HP ENVY Laptop - 15t-ep000 CTO

I have HP ENVY laptop. I bought it at the end 2020 and it is around 2 yr old by now. My battery suddenly started to give me issues. When i unplug the power chord, the laptop shuts off suddenly and it is working only if the power chord is connected. I tried many solutions and after checking with battery diagnostics, the battery status is given as normal but it isn't normal at all. What might be the issue, how can i solve it and any solutions please let me know.

Thanks

@Avi542,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Given that you tried all the troubleshooting steps I would have suggested already, it appears that your HP ENVY Laptop - 15t-Ep000 CTO most likely requires a new battery.

According to the manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06634821.pdf, it would be this battery, with HP p/n: L85885-005 "6-cell, 83 WHr, 3.59 AHr, Li-ion, KL06XL".

A quality KL06XL replacement battery can be purchased online, such as this example: https://www.amazon.com/IZKROR-KL06XL-Replacement-15-EP0098NR-15-ep0005TX/dp/B09W9T2CFF/ref=sr_1_1_ss....

If needed, here is a YouTube instructional video how to get to your battery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_i-iiZSnk90.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@Avi542,

Yes, unfortunately your battery is toast all right:

You probably cannot purchase a replacement battery via HP:

And the Amazon link I provided should be just fine -most of us purchase replacement batteries for our laptops this way.

Hey @NonSequiturr777

I recieved the battery and replaced my old battery with the new one. Laptop was working fine if I connected the power cord and turns off if removed. With the replacement battery, it isn't even turning on even after charging the laptop with new battery for more than an hour. There is nor led light(near power point) lightened when power chord is connect with new battery. I think there is no issue with the battery but something else. Can you suggest what might be issue and solution?

Thanks

@Avi542,

Doggonit -that is quite unusual. -Like you said, it is exceedingly unlikely that there's anything wrong with the second (new) battery.  Given the description of your power issues, almost always changing out the battery should have fixed your issue. Not to jump the gun, but I am afraid that the problem is likely hardware related -meaning, a computer technician (local PC repair shop) should check out your laptop to check for a failed capacitor or something like that.

Please try out troubleshooting steps #1 and #2 as described here: Windows laptop turns off when unplugged even with new Battery (thewindowsclub.com).

@Avi542,

Please:

1.) Check your battery's contact points and inside the battery compartment for damage.
2.) Check the charger and the power cords for any damages or kinks.
3.) If you happen to have another charger, swap it out and see if it makes a difference.
4.) Run the HP Testing and Calibrating the battery program: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_6798672-6170254-16.
