@BMASON123,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP EliteBook 840 G2 Notebook PC, according to: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04560057.pdf, requires this HP p/n: 717376-001 ("Battery (Primary) - 3-cell lithium-ion (Li-Ion), 4.5Ah, 50Wh (CM03050XL-PL)").

You can purchase a quality CM03XL replacement battery online such as this purchase option: Bay Valley Parts Replacement Laptop Battery For HP EliteBook 740 745 750 755 840 845 850 855 G1 G2 Z....

With regard to Earth-friendly battery recycling, here are two UK links providing useful information: https://www.recycle-more.co.uk/what-can-i-recycle/batteries/batteries-recycling-process#:~:text=Used...., and: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GPX9XCQSJZVETJRA.

[EDIT:] And here is a useful YouTube instructional video how to replace the battery: Battery Fix Replacement HP EliteBook 840, 740, 745, 750, 755+, EliteBook G1, G2 or G3 - YouTube.

Hope this was helpful.
