Hi @goutham-exe

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with some frustrating battery issues on your laptop. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Battery Calibration:

  • Sometimes, the battery's calibration can become misaligned, causing incorrect readings. To calibrate your battery:
    1. Fully charge your laptop to 100%.
    2. Leave it plugged in for a couple of hours after it reaches 100%.
    3. Unplug the charger and use the laptop until the battery drains completely and the device shuts down.
    4. Leave it off for a few hours, then plug it back in and charge it to 100% without interruption.

Check Battery Health:

  • Use tools to check your battery's health:
    • On Linux, you can use the terminal command:
    • This will give you information about the battery's health and charge cycles.

Update BIOS and Drivers:

  • Ensure your BIOS and power management drivers are up to date. Visit the manufacturer's website for any available updates specific to your laptop model.

Power Settings:

  • Check your laptop's power settings to ensure they are optimized for battery use. You can often find these settings in the system settings or control panel.

Inspect the Charger:

  • Make sure you're using the correct charger for your laptop. An incompatible charger can lead to improper charging behavior..

Run Diagnostic Tests:

  • If your laptop has built-in diagnostics (often accessible during startup), run a battery test to see if any errors are detected.

Check for Background Processes:

  • Sometimes, background processes can drain the battery quickly. Check for any high-resource applications that might be consuming battery power.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
