Hi @MGM14,

If you're experiencing battery issues with your HP 240 G8 Notebook PC, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve the problem:

  1. Check Battery Connection:

    • Ensure the battery is properly seated in its compartment, especially if it is a removable type. If not properly connected, it might not charge or power the device correctly.
  2. Battery Health Check:

    • Use HP Support Assistant to check the health of the battery. This tool can report any battery issues or if the battery needs calibration or replacement.
    • Open HP Support Assistant, and go to the "Battery" section to run a battery check.
  3. Calibrate the Battery:

    • Discharge the battery completely until the laptop shuts down.
    • Recharge the battery fully while the laptop is powered off.
    • Repeat this process to calibrate the battery for more accurate readings of battery life.
  4. Update Drivers and BIOS:

    • Ensure that your system drivers and BIOS are updated. Sometimes, outdated software can cause battery mismanagement.
    • Visit the HP website and download the latest drivers and BIOS for your specific model.
  5. Check Power Adapter:

    • Verify that the power adapter is functioning correctly. If possible, try using a different compatible charger.
  6. Examine Power Settings:

    • Check your power settings to make sure they align with your usage. Go to “Settings” > “System” > “Power & sleep” to adjust any unnecessary power usage settings.
  7. Inspect for Physical Damage:

    • Check for any physical damage on the battery or the battery compartment which could impact its operation.
  8. Conduct a Hard Reset:

    • Turn off your laptop and unplug the power supply.
    • Remove the battery if it's a removable type.
    • Hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual charge.
    • Insert the battery and power on the laptop.
