My laptop always display 'Fully charged' at 100%, but when I unplug it, it jumped to 98%. Where did that 2 percent go?

It's likely a calibration issue.

Don't worry you did not lose 2%. The meter works a bit differently on discharge and 100% is reading as 98%. Are you still getting good total runtime on the battery?

HP Recommended

Yes, the battery works fine from 98%. I can not find any damage to the power adaptor cable, does HP have battery-life like Apple that prevents laptop from charging to the full amount?

HP Recommended

Not on consumer models and if it had that you would not see a charge percent above like 80, not 98.

I did a bios scan, and the main warning I get is from the 'Power Source Test'. The laptop is plugged into the power socket from the wall, to charge. Here what I am talking about: Funne.pngWhat-.jpg

That is a slightly more serious problem. There is a chance the power supply is somehow damaged or defective. The battery is 2.5 years old with very few cycles and tests fine, but the power supply is giving off errors.

But this battery brick was coming straight out of the box, how is it defective?

The test does not say WHY or HOW its defective just identifies that there is a problem. I see the AC adapter passes. So does the battery. I am afraid this is going to require the unit be sent in for analysis and possible service. Could be a motherboard issue.

Well, my laptop is already out of warranty, and I do not know when it occured. But I only started paying attention recently.
