In all honesty though most laptop brands tend to lie about there battery life by a stupendous amount. Apple is one of the only brands that might rob your wallet but actually promise the battery life that they advertise mainly due to them using ARM based chips compared to the extremely inefficient x86/64 processors. Not to mention there batteries are pretty reliable; my old 2015 mac book pro gave me half of the battery life that the Envy laptop has given me which is extremely reasonable given how old it is. Nevertheless though, the Envy laptop has been serving me well so far other than the terrible battery life.

Thx Huffer 👍Well, I managed 4hrs+ down to 10% this time so I guess that is that (power save on from 100%). Not shooting you at all lol.
Poor show as said though BSing customers ...and yeah yeah "Up to" I guess means exactly that thus a good disclaimer wordage ...misleading though eh for all and sundry. 10 hours is proper stretching eh HP !!!
Yep its an i7 17 inch Envy I have, nice bit of kit tbh with a crap battery lol, can't have everything in life that one desires eh.
Cheers for your input Huffer 🙏

Unfortunately there had been warnings from review sites about the terrible battery life of the previous Envy 17-cr series with the Alder Lake CPUs.
Since the Raptor Lake refresh Envy 17-cw uses the exact same battery -as seen on its specs page- having the same poor performance when it comes to battery life is to be expected. It is a very bad idea to purchase laptops based on the marketing and advertising of the manufacturers. Reviews from serious trustworthy sites have to be carefully examined, and it is always a good idea to search for customers' opinions and posts. Same holds true for other kinds of products (cars for example).......

I have used windows and the way I extended my battery life was to:
debloat windows(use winutil)
run on power saver whenever possible
close unwanted apps
reduce brightness to a acceptable level
Best of all use Linux works like a charm for me.
