Hi, I'm using a docking station with my HP EliteBook x360 830 G7 Notebook PC. I noticed that the power adapter is no longer used when my docking station is plugged in the thunderbolt port. Will this affect the battery life since the battery always appears to be charging?

Not really.
You should get roughly two or more years out of the battery from new, although the battery is guaranteed under warranty for one year.
It is not recommended that the laptop to always be left plugged into the dock or the power adapter. If you do leave it plugged in, that will reduce the service life of the battery somewhat.
