HP Spectre x360 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 16-f2000 (74R51AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My laptop's battery is draining very fast, with playing a game ( elder scrolls legends, which isn't a demanding game at all ) and using Adobe Fresco for a combined screen time of an hour drained the battery from 100% to 25%. Even with battery saver on it barely seems to help increase the battery life. I want to use this laptop for Graphic design in the future which means using a lot of Adobe apps and this is definitely going to be an issue when I'm at university.

Is this just how fast the battery normally drains or is there an issue somewhere?

If your 2021 model year battery has been in use for a few years, the actual mobile use time would most likely have dropped from around 2-4 hours down to about an hour.

I suggest running the HP PC Diagnostics hardware tests to see what the condition of your batter is as compared to its factory state in mWH or watt hours.

I described how to  use the Windows Battery-Report in an article I authored a few years back.

Hi, sorry for the slow reply.
I did a battery test and it states that the design capacity is 83 MHr whilst the actual capacity is only 78 MHr, this doesnt seem like a massive difference but maybe this could be why im seeing a lot less battery?

Unfortunately, "83 MHr" is not a valid metric used by HP or the battery industry.

I have never heard of that one.

How about taking another look at the results of the Windows Battery-Report result.

Batteries are rated in Watt or milliwatt hours and even in Joules.

Hi sorry, complete mistake on my part I miss typed Watt-Hour as MHr not WHr, been a long day haha. But another check says that its 83 WHr as design capacity, and now it's 77 WHr as Full charge capacity. Here's the full results if thats any help.

That is a battery test, not the Battery-Report from Windows.

I wouldn't really have much faith in that as it shows 8/1000 cycles, which isn't likely to be accurate.

If you were looking for a laptop for university for use in class, you should have been looking in the 13-14" premium to top specification (Spectre) models, not a 16-17" laptop model.

The 16-17" laptop models usually get @2-4 hours of battery use, depending on the power option settings and that makes them poor choices for in class use at school, but fine for at home or in a dorm room.

My 5 year old Spectre 13t-ap0690nd laptop gets 8+ hours of use on flights from Europe to the US.
