Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?

Hi, today I started up my HP Omen, but suddenly it looks like no battery is connected (it's running on the AC adapter).
I bought this laptop in May  2025.
When I ran the HP hardware diagnostics to check the battery, it didn't complete the check and informed that the check was canceled!

Hi @Omar_general,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out. I can understand how concerning this is, especially when your notebook suddenly reports that no battery is connected, even though it was purchased in May 2025.

Since the HP Hardware Diagnostics battery test was cancelled and didn't complete, let's start with a few checks that often help resolve battery detection issues.

1. Perform a BIOS Recovery
A BIOS recovery can help if the battery is not being detected due to BIOS corruption or a firmware-related issue.

  • Turn off the notebook.
  • Press and hold the Windows + B keys.
  • While holding the keys, press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds, then release only the Power button while continuing to hold Windows + B until the BIOS Recovery screen appears.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and allow the recovery process to complete.

Once the notebook restarts, check whether the battery is detected.

2. Run the Battery Test using HP Support Assistant
If Windows starts normally: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

  • Open HP Support Assistant
  • Go to Troubleshooting and Fixes > Diagnostics
  • Run the Battery Test and note the result.

3. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (F2)
If the issue persists: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

  • Turn off the notebook.
  • Turn it back on and repeatedly press Esc, then press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI
  • Run the Battery Test directly from the UEFI diagnostics environment and check whether it completes successfully or reports an error or failure ID.

Could you also let me know:

  • What is the exact model number of your HP OMEN notebook?
  • Does the battery icon in Windows display "No battery detected", or does it show 0% available (plugged in)
  • Have there been any recent Windows updates, BIOS updates, or power-related events before this started?

If the battery is still not detected after the BIOS Recovery and the F2 diagnostics are unable to complete the battery test, it may indicate a problem with the battery or the system board. Please share the results of the diagnostics, and I'll be happy to guide you with the next appropriate steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Dear Vikram,

Thank you for the speedy response.

Actually, I have already done most of the suggested actions.

The battery icon in Windows displays empty battery icon and power sign above it with 0% available.

Finally, I requested the battery report in CMD. Here are the screenshots of the first and seventh pages.

Hi @Omar_general,

Thank you for sharing the details. This looks like an issue with the Battery itself.

Please help us with the Printer serial number or the product number in a private message for further assistance.
