Hello

My laptop is not charging while on. I ran diagnostics on battery and ac adapter and it said battery needed replacement.  I did so, and I had the same problem.  So I checked the ac adapter again and it failed the test. I bought a new adapter,  and same thing is happening.  The battery drains quickly.  I did not calibrate it because the directions say to charge it 100% then turn it off.....it only charges if I turn it off,  and it takes a long time.  Any suggestions? Thank you

@Val-7_35 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the laptop battery is not charging.

As you stated that you have replaced the battery. Please provide the part number.

Please try the below:

Steps to uninstall the ACPI drivers

Right-Click on start button> click device manager> Batteries>then select the s drivers and right-click on it and uninstall all battery drivers.

Then restart the computer and check again.

Also, update the BIOS.

Hello,

 I uninstalled the drivers and updated BIOS, but there was a lot of time in between.  Neither of them worked.  After I replaced the battery and before I replaced the adapter, I got a fan malfunction on the screen . It has only shown up a few times, mostly after I opened up the back of the computer. The battery is still not charging while on. If I unplug it and plug it back in,  it shows charging for a few seconds.  Thank you

@Val-7_35

I understand your concerns.

In that case, I would suggets you contact our phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.

Or you can contact a local service center in this regard.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.

Have a nice day!!
