Noticed a couple of days ago that my laptop wasn't charging. The light next to the adaptor plug in was blinking white. The adaptor wire was frayed so I bought a new ac adaptor from HP. Just got it in today. Battery still not charging. Did an F2 to get to diagnostics and components and battery -- got a battery fail message with the following error code MAM 4RQ 7NL 99U MFP WMF C09 G03. Went back to HP site and the virtual agent suggested a battery test there. It showed warranty status of 1 and an ok battery.
NOW WHAT? Do I have an ok battery? Don't want to buy something when it is another issue. Thanks in advance for any help!
Cindy

Ok I took the battery out and then put it back in. It started charging again. The light changed back to red. Charge went back up to 86% (was at 63%). Then it quit again. But the light changed to white (but not white blinking).

HP does not sell new ORIGINAL adapters without new laptops, most likely you bought a Chinese copy and it is weaker in power, so your battery does not charge, or buy a universal adapter for a little more capacity (more amperes (A) BUT with the same number of volts (V )
but if you are afraid of experimenting, just find the master in your city and ask them to fix your cable on the old(ORIGINAL) adapter, you will not find the adapter better unless the other owner has HP

I just ordered the adaptor directly from HP - actually one of their support people helped me as it said that the part listed for my computer was no longer available. He placed the order for me and I spent $80 with tax and shipping from HP. The shipping invoice shows HP inc c/o Service Management Solutions. So did I just overpay for an adaptor from HP?
