HP Pavilion Notebook

My laptop does not work without the charger connected. I ran the HP Battery Check and the failure ID was MC7XVL-7RE9H2-MFPWMF-C08Q03. What does it mean?

The battery was replaced a year ago and stopped functioning properly 2 months after the replacement.

Please help me with this issue!

Thanks!

The error code translates to:

Test Date 2019/02/03

Failure Information(yyyy/mm/dd)

Failure Code 601

DevicePowerIncludesAC Adaptor, Battery, Cache Battery Pack, Charger, Power Cord, Power Supply

Error code 601means there is a measured storage capacity issue.

I authored a notebook knowledge base article that may help. Use the link below

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebooks-Knowledge-Base/Is-your-notebook-plugged-in-and-not-charging/...

You will need to boot to windows and invoke the battery-report as described in the article. Copy and past the report in a reply in your thread. We need to see the charge-discharge history and the status of the battery since new. The battery-report will provide that information. The report will also provide the battery current status.

Thanks for posting the battery report.

According to the report, the battery has been in service from 8/27/2018 - 02/02/2019.

Perusing the battery-report shows me that the battery current state is

FULL CHARGE CAPACITY DESIGN was 16,576 mWh

Current capacity 8,998 mWh

The battery currently has only 54% capacity remaining.

That equates 100% actual capacity to 54 % of the design capacity.

At that level of remaining capacity, I would expect the battery to be providing only intermittent service and perhaps even a failure to boot up the notebook.

That battery certainly did not give you much in the way of service.  That was only about 5 months until the battery storage capability dropped to 54%. That is not good.

Does  Is the normal ambient temperature in your region happen to be quite high?

Yes. The normal temperature is quite high in this region. Could you please suggest me my next course of action? A replacement of the battery previously did not help, as the new battery stopped functioning after a while.

HP Recommended

I suggest using a notebook cooling pad.  Using one should lower the temperature of the notebook and increase battery service life.

Some examples are at the following link.

Should I replace my battery now?
